The 111th Chandler Bullock Memorial Labor Day Tennis Tournament is coming up soon! The sign-up period ends at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 23. The tournament is open to current and former Princeton, MA residents, their spouses, and their children who have reached the age of 15 by the start of the tournament.

Before signing up, please be sure to read the tournament rules. By signing up, you are agreeing to abide by these rules.

Once the sign-up period has ended, potential participants may choose to be put on a wait list to be called on in case of withdrawals before play has begun or of odd numbers of players in one of the events. The draw will be held on Wed. evening, Aug. 23, and draws will be posted to the website on Friday, Aug. 25.

Scheduling

The early rounds of the mixed event will be played starting on Monday evening, Aug. 28. Men’s and women’s events will start either Thursday or Friday (8/31 or 9/1) evening, depending on the number of participants who sign up.

While the committee will make best efforts to accommodate special scheduling requests, we cannot guarantee this will be possible. With that in mind, these are the time commitments required for the three events:

  • Mixed:
    • Monday, Aug. 28 – Thursday, Aug. 31 6:00 PM on each evening (Thursday will be a make-up day in case of rain earlier)
    • Saturday, Sept. 2 – Sunday, Sept. 3 – 9:00 AM on each day
    • Monday, Sept. 4: 9:00 AM on (finals normally start at 10:00 AM, but may be moved up in case of weather issues)
  • Men’s & Women’s:
    • Thursday, Aug. 31 – Friday, Sept. 1: 6:00 PM on each evening
    • Saturday, Sept. 2 – Sunday, Sept. 3 – 9:00 AM on each day
    • Monday, Sept. 4: 9:00 AM on (finals normally start at 10:00 AM, but may be moved up in case of weather issues)

Please keep in mind that evening sessions will likely require two matches per court in many cases, meaning that the second match will start after the conclusion of the first. It is always possible that matches may run longer than the scheduled 1-1/2 hours, so start and end times are not guaranteed. As a courtesy to all players, please be sure you are available to play during the times shown above for the event(s) you choose.
